National ECE Day of Action - Whanaungatanga Friday!

Our ECE colleagues are under attack.
This Government is making big changes that put private profit first, erode pay and working conditions for at the expense of quality of early childhood education in Aotearoa.
These include:
This Government is making big changes that put private profit first, erode pay and working conditions for at the expense of quality of early childhood education in Aotearoa.
These include:
- Cutting pay for new, relieving, and fixed-term teachers.
- Loosening teacher qualification requirements.
- Scrapping compulsory curriculum standards around
- good teaching practices.
- Removing requirements to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
It’s teachers’ qualifications, professionalism, and expertise that make the difference for tamariki.
But to create quality learning conditions for tamariki, teachers need quality working conditions.
So, on Friday 27 June, ECE National Day of Action, it's also
Whanaungatanga Friday!
Show your local Community ECE Centres some aroha and manaakitanga:
- Pop in with some treats - chocolates, flowers, home baking, coffee - whatever you think busy kaiako would enjoy.
- Include a letter, card or wee note as a tautoko.
- Collect signatures for the petition and drop them in, too.
