Support Staff Network Meeting - Wellington

Nau mai haere mai to your support staff network of term 1! This is no normal network, you will not be doing PD or learning about your payslips - this is much more important.
Support Staff have a decision to make - whether to accept/reject a new offer from the government and whether to take the government to court.
Your pay equity campaign isn't a once off, instead, you are entitled to it being reviewed. The male-dominated professions that you were compared against have received pay increases that have outstripped yours, and yet the government is claiming that this has nothing to do with gender... likely story.
Legal challenges must be per pay equity case (TAs, Librarians, Admin and Science Tech) - so this initial challenge will be to the teacher aides pay equity claims as the oldest claim. Despite that, this claim will impact everyone as it would prove an important point which NZEI will use for every occupational group.
A legal challenge is a big decision to make, so until the end of week 9, all support staff will hold in-school discussions and then vote. This network will help you prepare for that and provide information. If possible, please send one person per school (although more are welcome)!
Details:
Location: Newtown School
Date: Wednesday, 12th March
Time: 3:30pm-4:30pm (turnup at any time if you can't make 3:30)
Parking: Newtown School will open the gate on Mein Street to allow parking on the court
