Toitū Te Tiriti, Toitū te reo Māori

Join us online for our third free webinar for all members on protecting, progressing and enacting Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the education system.

This session features Dr Jeremy Tātere McLeod of Kauwaka Ltd, one of 13 providers of Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori. He will be joined by NZEI members who have undertaken Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori.

The panel will discuss:
- Crown Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities to te reo Māori in the education system - Current attacks on Te Reo Māori by the Coalition Government
- The conditions needed for te reo to thrive in education

They will give life to the importance of equitable access to te reo Māori PLD for kaiako and teachers through their own experiences, and what this means for tamariki mokopuna.

The panel will consider what the $30 million funding cut to Te Ahu o Te Reo means, how the education system is measuring up to its Te Tiriti responsibilities, what is going well and what change is needed.
